Lead our client partner's transformation with a major UK financial institution
Transformation Lead – Engineering Insights Lithe Transformation UK – predominantly remote, with occasional travel 12-month engagement, with strong potential to extend Target start: November 2026
Lithe Transformation is looking for an exceptional Transformation Lead to take a pivotal role within a major, complex global financial-services organisation. This is an opportunity for someone who sits comfortably at the intersection of technology, engineering, transformation and senior leadership. You won't need to be the deepest technical specialist in the room – in fact, you'll be working alongside some exceptionally capable engineers and data scientists. What you do need is the credibility to engage with them, the judgement to understand what the evidence is telling you, and the presence to turn that into conversations and decisions at CIO and senior leadership level. The focus is Engineering Insights and Developer Experience: helping senior engineering leaders understand how effectively their organisation is delivering, where investment is creating value, where it isn't, and how emerging technologies such as AI are changing engineering performance. This is as much a leadership and consulting role as it is a transformation role.
You'll take ownership of the Engineering Insights agenda, connecting engineering priorities, data and organisational objectives to create practical recommendations and drive meaningful change.
Leading and shaping the Engineering Insights roadmap, identifying the questions that matter most to senior technology leadership. Assessing engineering effectiveness using DORA metrics, productivity indicators, delivery data and qualitative evidence. Looking across the complete idea-to-value lifecycle to identify where engineering performance, flow and outcomes can be improved. Evaluating the adoption and effectiveness of AI-enabled engineering tools, including their impact on productivity, quality, investment return, risk and controls. Turning complex technical and analytical findings into clear, compelling executive narratives and recommendations. Advising CIOs and senior engineering leaders on priorities, investment decisions and transformation opportunities. Working across engineering, data, product and delivery communities to improve measurement and establish more effective ways of working. Identifying effective practices from across a large technology organisation and helping leaders scale them. Building relationships across a complex enterprise and navigating the organisational dynamics required to turn good ideas into actual change. The person we're looking for We're deliberately not prescribing a rigid number of years' experience or looking for someone who ticks every technical box. We're much more interested in your combination of leadership presence, consulting capability, technology understanding and judgement. You could have come from a leading management or technology consultancy, or built equivalent experience leading transformation inside a large enterprise. Either way, you should be someone who can walk into a conversation with senior technology leaders, quickly understand the landscape and establish credibility.
Strong experience of technology, engineering or digital transformation within a large, complex organisation. The polish and structured thinking associated with a strong consulting background. Experience navigating large enterprises and influencing senior stakeholders where the answer isn't simply dictated by an organisational chart. The confidence and credibility to work with CIOs, senior engineering leaders, data scientists and technical specialists. Enough engineering knowledge to understand and challenge technical conversations without needing to be a hands-on software engineer. Understanding of DevOps, engineering productivity and DORA metrics. Strong analytical judgement – particularly the ability to distinguish useful insight from interesting-but-irrelevant data. An understanding of the opportunities and challenges created by AI in software engineering. Excellent communication and storytelling skills, particularly when translating complex information for executive audiences. Experience within banking, financial services or another highly regulated enterprise would be valuable, but we're more interested in finding the right calibre of transformation leader than someone with a particular logo on their CV. What will make you stand out
The strongest candidates will combine three things that aren't always found together: Consulting presence: you can structure ambiguity, influence senior people and communicate with clarity. Technology credibility: you understand engineering organisations, DevOps and modern technology well enough to have meaningful conversations with highly technical people. Transformation leadership: you understand that delivering change in a major enterprise requires more than producing the right analysis. You can build relationships, navigate competing priorities, influence decision-makers and bring people with you.
Experience exploring AI-enabled engineering, developer productivity or engineering effectiveness would make that combination particularly compelling.
Why this role?
This isn't a transformation role where you'll spend your time administering a programme plan. You'll be working close to some exceptionally capable technology and engineering professionals, tackling questions that are becoming increasingly important to large organisations: How do we genuinely measure engineering effectiveness? How do we know whether AI is making engineers more productive – rather than simply creating more activity? Where should technology leaders invest to create the greatest improvement in flow, quality and value?
How do you turn those insights into change inside a large, complex organisation? You'll have significant scope to shape the agenda rather than simply inherit it. The practicalities
The initial engagement is expected to be 12 months in an employed FTC with the potential to extend to 24 months. The role is predominantly remote within the UK. There may occasionally be a need to attend an important leadership, client or team meeting in person, but this will be the exception rather than the normal working pattern. Appropriate travel expenses will be covered.
We're targeting a November 2026 start, although finding the right person matters more than filling the role quickly. You will join Lithe Transformation and work as part of our consulting capability embedded within a major global organisation.
If you're a technology transformation leader who can bridge the gap between engineering, data, executive decision-making and organisational change, we'd like to hear from you.
